In the last few days I've had two "home theater in a box" systems come into my possesion. One is a JVC TH-A5 DVD home theater system, the other is a Sony DAV-C770 DVD "Dream System". Unfortunatly, neither of them have their original remote controls. I can order them from JVC and Sony, but at $60 a pop, I'd much rather find a universal remote under $60 that would control them. Does anybody here have a suggestion of a universal remote that's not too expensive that actually has codes to control these new hybrid audio systems? My All 4 One and Sony universal remotes won't work, and I haven't had any luck finding anything on the net that would work that's fits the budget. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know about the JVC, but the Sony, there isn't a universal remote with a code for the Sony. Sony is using a new code set for their receivers and systems, the receivers can be changed to the old code, but not the systems. Not even Sony's top of the line remote has this code. You could get a learning remote, go to GG,BB,or CC and ask to borrow a remote to learn from. You also might be able load the code into a OFA/RS remote via JP1 cable.

Thanks Edmund for the info. From what I've tried and read so far, I was pretty sure there weren't any universal remotes out there yet that properly control these "theaters in a box". Either get a learning remote or purchase the original remote looks like my only two solutions.

JeffS.
