I was in the setup menu (MEMO + OK) and I started adjusting the contrast. Suddenly, random characters and garbage started flashing on the LCD panel. I backed out of the setup menu. The LCD panel is still displaying garbafe and it no longer transmits commands (I guess...nothing responds to it). I tried popping the batteries out for about 10 minutes and the problem remains.

Any ideas?

Excuse my unfamilularity with the RC2000, but is there a "reset" switch or key command? Failing that, you may want to keep the batteries out overnight. These things draw such little power that a long period is often needed to really clear the memory. Of course you may lose everything programmed...

Yes, I can clear the memory...I was kind of hoping to avoid doing that though. :-(

I'm going to contact Marantz today and see if they know what's up...
