I have a Denon CD model - DCM-460 and a Onkyo receiver model - T-4140. I think the rec. is about 10 yrs old. And with code, do I just enter the numbers? Thanks in advance.

Before you start entering numbers, you need to buy a universal remote, then enter the numbers.

You didn't mention thayt you already have a universal remote, and you certainly didn't mention which brand & model you have. You do realise that different manufacturers use different codes and programming methods, right? So even if I laid out in great detail how you would program, let's say, an RCA remote, that wouldn't help you if you have a Zenith remote, ya see?

Rob,
You mean you can't actually read people's minds? I guess the metaphysical requirements for JP1 expertise aren't quite what I expected :-O
