My poor old Maganavox TV remote has died. Thinking about getting a universal remote to replace it, so I'll just have one remote for the TV, VCR, and DVD. Confused about the Learning feature most models have - since my existing TV remote is dead, what can I do? Any advice or suggestions on models for dummies would be welcome!

A lot of learning remotes also have a database.

Any advice or suggestions on models for dummies would be welcome!

queen,
Most any RS or OFA remote should handle all that. I have 2 Magnavox TV's and the code for them is TV_0054. Does a good job mapping the buttons on my OFA 6800 and RS 1994. If anything should happen to come up missing, ueic remotes (RS and OFA's) let you add them with advance codes. I'd suggest a learner anyway, might need the learning function for one or more of your other pieces. Two good ones would be the OFA 8811 (and WW version 8810w), and the new Radio Shack 2116. Both can be had for about 30.00 and JP-1 ready if you decide you want to go that route for true customization later. If ya wanna spend 100 or more, anthony can help ya out.;)

As for the dummy part, I'll be the one setting it up & using it! Costwise I don't want to go over $100.

I would recommend starting with the One For All URC-6012w which can be had for $15 at Walmart, that should take care of most of your needs.
