Did anyone program their remote controls for the Samsung DLP 437W or 507W? I did it on my Dish receiver's remote and my ReplayTV's remote and in both cases in order to increase the volume on the TV you have to press the volume up or down buttons repeatedly (rather than holding it pressed) in order to change the level. This is obviously not the case for the TV's own remote but why does it happen on the others?
I tried couple of other Samsung TV remote codes listed on each manufacturer's manual but I couldn't find a code that works.
Thanks -Selim

Selim, I assume you tried all pre-installed codes in your remotes to work the TV. I'm afraid that the mfr.s of the remotes didn't provide for repeatedly sending those signals for the volume while the button is pressed. I'm also afraid that with those remotes there's no workaround of fix that can be done, that's just a limitation of those remotes. The only alternative is to purchase a universal remote without that limitation, and will also operate the other devices correctly. Jim

It sounds like the TV remote uses the NEC2 protocol, whereas the universal remote is using the NEC1 protocol. The main symptom of using the wrong version of the NEC protocol is that the repeat feature stops working.
For example, my Samsung VCR uses the NEC2 protocol and the code that works it in my Replay remote is VCR/0240, which uses the NEC1 version, so none of the buttons repeat. To rectify this, I created an NEC2 upgrade, which I loaded using JP1 and now it works fine. This was especially required for the RECORD button, as the VCR requires that it be held for a long period before it responds.

Rob, can you explain how this NEC2 upgrade through "loading using JP1" works? Will it work with my ReplayTV remote since that is what I am mostly interested in getting to work.
Thanks -Selim
