Hi all, First, here is my HT system which needs to be controlled: a) Hughes DirecTV receiver b) Sony DVP NC 615 player c) Harman Kardon AVR 325 receiver d) Panasonic VCR
And here is a remote I need: a) One that can fully control all the above devices b) Must be hard button ( I prefer the feel of buttons to a touch screen) c) Must not cost me an arm and leg ! (ie < $100):-)
d) And ideally, I would love to have one that can control two devices simultaneously - ie if I press the volume up/dn button, it should send the command to my HK receiver, while if I pressed channel uip/dn, it should send it to my sat. recvr. without my having to first switch modes by pressing 'AVR' and 'SAT' each time I do this.
Any help is much appreciated ! regds arjun

There are several that come to mind immediately.
The new Radio Shack 15-2116 ($29.95), One for All's 8812 (24.95) is also excellent. Both are great and will do more than you want. After living with both for a while I'd quickly recommend the RS remote. Backlighting, Macros on all keys, including the device keys, and learning for any difficult codes.
In any case, for under $40.00 you can easily find what you're looking for.

Thanks for your inputs ! How about SONY RM-VL1000 ? I was considering buying that mainly because I love the sony key feel. Any opinion on this vs. the ones you suggested ?
Thanks Arjun

I just had to say your title "Quest for ..." was hysterically funny because of its sad truth :-)
