I have a UC 525. I got it to learn every DSS universal remote except 2, The menu/select button and the clear button. I was able to do this on my Palm M505 then tried to learn it from that but no luck, the palm worked but not the UC. The original remote is a DSS universal that works just can't figure out why it won't learn those two codes. Any ideas?

Why don't you learn the oem remote direct to the UC? I don't understand why anyone would learn to a palm, then use that to "teach" another learner. I can understand teaching the oem to both, but not introducing another source for error or alteration. Is there something that I'm missing about even considering doing it by this method? The DSS unit itself might be a little forgiving about some of the signals it will accept, but how far you want to stretch this?

Re-reading, you apparantly tried to teach the DSS directly to the UC, But 2 buttons wouldn't learn? However the Palm would learn those 2, but couldn't teach them to the UC? I can understand the latter; but that doesn't explain the first. I'll try learning those 2 to my 6800 and see if there's anything unusual about those 2 particular buttons.

EZ,

Gosh, your problem isn't quite so unique. I tried learning the Menue and Clear buttons to my 6800, and couldn't learn them either. I did manage to learn "1" and "ok", but IR reported unusual results (to me). I'll check with some "experts" at JP-1 and see if I can find out what the deal is on the oem remote.

The oem remote is the DSS universal remote. That is what came with the DSS system. I have read that if you tray another device to teach the UC it might work hence the palm., trying to teach the UC

EZ,

As stated earlier, I couldn't learn my dss oem remote directly to my 6800 learner (the 2 buttons). However, I was able to set my 1994 up with device code Sat_0392, and learn the two corresponding buttons to my 6800. Both the 1994 and the 6800's learned signals worked the receiver. I still don't know why my 6800 refused to learn the oem remotes signals for these 2 buttons.
I GUESS, a solution to your UC remote problem MAY be to "borrow" someone's RS or OFA remote, set the sat button to be assigned _0392, then teach the Menue and Clear buttons to your UC remote. Sorry, but this is the best I can come up with, it did work for me(on my 6800). On my 1994, memue is mapped to the "menue" key, and "clear" is mapped to "Center/exit".

I now have got the menu/select button to work, I used a different palm pilot palm remote software, it actually reads the signals. Only one to go the clear button is proveing to be more stubborn.

EZ,

A suggestion. Clear the PP's memory such that you are starting with a "virgin" "remote". Then try learning that "clear". I had to do a 981 mfr reset on my 6800 before it would learn those 2 stubborn buttons.
