I tried to load the new firmware (3.13) last night and it said it loaded fine, but it is now dead. No screen, no communication with the computer, dead. I have tried teh reset button, unplugging the battery for 2 minutes, but nothing helps. are there any tricks to bringing this back to life?

You could try taking out the batteries overnight and pressing the reset button before putting them back in.

I have noticed that once you down load to the Rc8000 the screen contrast resets to a very low visiblity,so low that you can't hardly see anything. This might be what happened.
