I don't require much from a remote, but if I can get it to act as a surrogate program timer for my crappy cable box, it would make my life much, much easier. Is there anything below the $180-$200 range of the Sony units that can do this?

Thanks,
COZ

The One For All A/V Producer 8 (URC-8800) and Home Producer 8 (URC-9800, includes RF) can be programmed to send a sequence of signals to your equipment at a specific time up to a week ahead. With the RF version you won't have to leave the remote pointed at your equipment. Both are under $100. These models are being replaced by the URC-8910 ($60 @ CC, I think - cheaper online) and URC-9910 (not widely available yet), which I'm guessing will have the same capabilities, although I'm not sure.
