with the mx 700, you need an available serial port on your computer. my serial port (only one) is used by my APC UPS power supply/battery backup/power surge protector. i was thinking of getting a serial to usb cable/adapter but they are around $59. i figure that you only use it for the 1 or 2 minutes of downloading, why pay for that?

there must be others out there without an always available serial port for the MX 700. what is your advice please?
