Has anyone experienced a comm port "fail !" using Windows 2000 (SP3). I've varied the port 1 and 2 properties but no joy.

Wow! I solved my problem.
The problem is in the procedure and the link of the SLC-2081 Connecter and cable. Let's start with the connecter and cable. When connecting SLC-2081 and cable between the computer and UCommand-626 the red light should be on only. If you see the red (power), green (TXD) and green (RXD) lit the download and upload function of the Remote Comm software will fail. To deal with the LEDs, the only thing I could do was to shimmy or plug and unplug the connector (at the remote) until the red light was on without the green TXD and RXD lights.
If the SCL-2081 connector has the red light on only we can discuss the CrispSolutions procedures. The pamphlet doesn't cover much. What you need to know is the programming and customizing function of "Duplicate." Duplicate enables the transfer of data between two Ucommand-626 or a computer. The Duplicate option of Receive or Send will be used in conjunction with Remote Comm "Download from Remote" or "Upload to Remote" respectively. To download, enable Duplicate-Send and select "Download from Remote" from Remote Comm. To upload, enable Duplicate-Receive and select "Upload to Remote" from the Remote Comm.
Using Windows 2000 (SP3) I've been able to transfer data at 128000 bits per second. However, default settings should be used. Don't expect a faster transfer at 128000 bits per second. In addition, Remote Comm will only use comm 1 or 2.
