Larry,

You won't need all that hex string. If you save the ccf file on your pc, you can download John's little program ccf2efc, available at the files section of JP-1 group. That'll transpose all that into a format that you can use with your ueic remote. You'll see something like this: Panasonic 128.2:126 EFC:238 (all just made up for here)it will also tell what the command was, i.e. channel up (+). The Panasonic info is panasonic protocol. the 128 is the main device number. the 2 is the subdevice number. You can use that to check in devices.xls (also available in the files at JP-1) and see what ueic device code was assigned that. The "126" is the OBC. It gave the EFC, 238. That's the info you'll need for KM. If there's already an existing device setup code (found in devices.xls), see if your particular remote has it in it's library. If so, use it. If some functions are missing you can either make up a new device upgrade with KM, or use the already existing one in your remote and use keymoves in IR to assign the efc's to buttons.

BTW, JP-1 questions really belong at the JP-1 group. This isn't even the OFA forum, it's for other "universal remotes", not ueic remotes.

you can also find CCF2EFC in the Pronto file section on this site. As far as I know it only works with CCF files (pronto area) and not NCF files (NEO area)

Just FYI, the version in the Pronto file section is a much older version than the one in the JP1 area. The new vesion produces alot less "fluff" that you don't need.

The old ccf2efc is only compatible with "P1" pronto files, the new version works with both "P1" and "P2" but not "PP" (ProntoPro). If you want to use a PP file, download the current Pronto Edit from this site and use it to open the file, then re-save it in the old "Black and White" pronto format, then it will work with ccf2efc.

But, before you go to all this trouble, you should check whether someone else has already created a file with the codes in it, in the JP1 file section.

If you cannot find a file that lists the discretes that you need, but you are still convinced that they exist (remember, your device needs to support discrete codes, you cannot just 'create' them on a remote if the device doesn't support them), you could try manually going through all 256 codes that are available with most setup codes to see if you can find them.

FYI,
The current pronto edit, 4.5 is a huge download. It may take up to 1 hr. and 48 minutes to complete. I tried twice, and RC dropped the download, 1st time with 15%; second time with 61%. If you don't use a pronto and really have an ongoing need for it, it may not be worth the aggravation, time, etc. for just a one-time deal or very infrequent use. If that's the case, you might just ask someone who already has edit to do the conversions for you; just don't intrude on them often ;)
