Anyone out there got a Marmitek 8in1 Remote Control IR/RF and a PowerMid RE549 Receiver Pyramid (433MHz)? In the UK they are often sold together as package.
For the money (£40) it is utterly brilliant !!

You position you powermid/s in front of your dvd/cd/vcr/etc. You then teach the remote the IR codes in the normal way. You can then control any of the sources FROM ANYWHERE IN THE HOUSE.
The remote sends an IR signal as normal but it also sends a RF signal which is picked up by the powermid and converted back into IR which is fired at the source. The RF works over 5 floors and even outside. All my source are located in one AV cab so I only need one powermid also all video is pumped round the house to every TV.

And thats not all. The remote can also send X10 instructions directly to the standard RF->X10 transceiver (TM12U) even if the powermid is switched off. I have all my sources hanging off x10 appliance modules ( including the powermid )
I can use the same remote to boot everything up ( X10 ) and then control it (RF+IR).

As much as I love my remote i am sad :-(

I have recently invested in a multi room / multi source amp ( Russsound - fantastic ) and a CD juke box. I look at Pronto's etc CD jukebox CCFs and custom screens I am very jealous. The marmitek can only support 6/7 devices + 4 basic macros so it is too small for my needs.

I want the functionality I have now but with a pronto style interface. Using the remote anywhere in the house without having to point it at a particular point on the wall ( IR pickup ) is great. Do any other remotes (£<200) on the market do anything like the Marmitek. Don’t care about colour/ will consider a PDA solution.

Thanks in advance

Hi, the Pronto's that can do RF are the ProntoPro, and Marantz RC5200, there was a post in the Pronto Forum on how to add RF functionality to the Pronto [Link: remotecentral.com]

But you can try waiting until the Pronto TSU-3000 and it's UK counterpart come out, it should be able to do RF (read sep 4/5) plus since it will be at the same MRSP as the 2000, it will probably be at the same street (or web) price. Here in North America the RF sent by the ProntoPro is compatible with the Powermid receiver, and in the UK someone said it works with X10, so you might be able to use the 3000 the same way you are using the Marmitek

I too have a marmitek, i am unable to have it learn any of the navigation type functions (up/down/left/right) used by so many remotes like sky digital etc.

Did your remote learn these if so what model ?
