In the UK, a medion branded remote is being sold at Aldi stores from 3rd October, for £7.99. It has loads of buttons and does 8 devices. This link will take you to a photo.

Does anyone recognise it as a rebadge of something else? If so, do you know what it is a clone of, whether it can be tweaked by a JP1 connector or similar. Any info would be helpful.

I thought I would buy one, as it was cheap and you never know...

Out of the packet, the keys are clear, feel good and there are plenty of them. If you are lucky with the devices and all the keys you want are included, it is probably a lovely little remote, especially for £8.

Bad news: This is no OFA clone, there is no Key Magic, no JP1 connection, no upgrades. Vol Punch Through is TV only.

I'll probably give it to my mother in law, it will probably sort her TV and Video out lovely.

Further to my last post, and this will upset a few Pronto Users and non-jp1 OFA users, but this remote does actually support a Pace/NTL/Digital Cable box! Though I found that to call up the Interactive Services you have to press SETUP briefly followed by AV.

All the keys are there once you find them and it would be a cheap replacement for a lost remote!

I tried to "learn" the keys into my URC-7560 to see if this was an alternative remote protocol to the IRDA used by the original remote, but found that it was not. Or to put it another way, the URC would not learn from it.

I have to say that it is not bad for the price. Though it does not do 16:9 on my Sony TV.

But what do you expect for £8?
