Is there a difference between the 9-9-4 function and 9-9-2? "RBW" above said that he used 9-9-2 to re-map a function. Was this a typo or is 9-9-2 a different function than 9-9-4? What other functions are available like this?

Can someone help me program my receiver properly? I've programmed macros on to s1 and s2 where s1 turns everything on for watching DirecTV and hitting it again turns it all off. GREAT!
s2 I have turning one everything to watch a DVD. My receiver is a Harman/Kardon AVR75 and it has 2 digital sound inputs: OPTICAL and COAXIAL. There are 2 buttons on the HK remote, one says OPT and the other COAX. I would like to program my new remote so that the "7" key is assigned OPT and the "8" key is assigned COAX. That way I can then use the 7 and 8 keys in my s1 and s2 macros. The RS manual is awful and the learning procedure doesn't seem to like me. Can someone review how to learn any button from my HK remote onto a specific button on the RS remote? Email me privately if necessary. Also, I was unable to program a "turn everything off" macro onto P-s1. Can this in fact be done? If I want s1 to turn on all my directv-viewing stuff and P-s1 to turn all that stuff off, can you do it? I realize just hitting s1 again WILL do it, but I'd like to customize a little more. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

So how do you use advanced codes, what do you press on the remote to enter them? I also can't seem to understand how do these functions assign themself to the right buttons (with the same lebeling, like pause would assign to pause button on the remote, can you chose to which buttons give advanced code?

I learned all of the functions from my Toshiba DVD, but now i don't have enought memory to learn anything else ....

So would be greatfull for any help...

Like Newsman, and Brad, I can not get the advance codes to work for the given key. The advance code test that Russ explained worked. I just can't get the specified key to accept the code???

What is the exact order of of key press to get it to work? Example, do you hold the program key down untill it blinks twice, than device, code, and key. Or is it device first than program key, code and specific key? Do you hold the program key down untill it blinks twice? I've tried all of the above, nothing works, what am I doing wrong???

Thanks in advance

15-1994 Discussion Digest

[Link: mandala.com]

Hello All,

I got a couple of these remotes for myself and 1 for my father for Christas and decided he would need some help programming it as I did, so I took notes on what seemed to work for me and wrote it up one night with a glass of Cabernet at my side..

Please feel free to use and circulate this as you have use for it. I hope it is complete enough as a supplement to the existing instructions it comes with. I attempted to digest what's been discussed here for the last few months.

Please let me know if there are technical errors that need to be corrected; I'll keep it up to date but don't know that I'll continue keeping up with this dicussion thread. My remote works great and I'm very happy with it. I have:

Toshiba DVD
Toshiba VCR
Panasonic VCR
HK receiver
GI cable box
Sony TV

If anyone feels inclined to further develop and circulate this document, please let me know so I can refer other's to a more up to date document in the future.

cheers,

Jeff-

Hal -

I believe it should be

1) DEVICE
2) P** (hold until 2 blinks)
3) 994 (light blinks twice)
4) 3-digit code
5) Key you are assigning to

Then the light will blink twice again. Remember you cannot do this with certain buttons, like the device buttons, SCAN, SLEEP and a couple others I think.

rbw,
it should be one step more:
1) DEVICE
2) P** (hold until 2 blinks)
3) 994 (light blinks twice)
4) P* (light blinks once)!
5) 3-digit code
6) Key you are assigning to

Additional all 3-digit codes are transfered to range 000 - 255, for example:
357 = 101 + 256 (the same function like 101)
613 = 101 + 2*256 (the same function like 101)

Hello All,
Be careful with advanced codes, especially for TVs.
Yesterday I got by accident code for Service Menu for Panasonic TV (0250) - 019 (019+256=275, 019+2*256 etc.), and erased all customer sets.

Thanks all,
Great forum for information! I've got my remote 95% programed. I was just waiting to get info on the correct input procedure for advance codes.

Thanks Jeff, those are very complete instructions. Your advance code program # is 9*9*5 shouldn't that be 9*9*4 as stated in the above two posts?

Wow! just think how many remotes Radio Shack could sell if they knew what they were doing! The manual that comes with this is a joke. It's a fantastic remote for the price. For a while I didn't think I was going to find one that does all this for less than $150.00, at $29.99 on sale it's a real bargain!

I bought the remote yesterday for $29.99 as I was told the sale ends on 12/24/99. It is an excellent remote. I noticed the IR signals are strong and quick response from A/V equipment. I love the tactile feel of the remote and the backlight. The remote accepted codes for my Yamaha 2095 on Aux2, Pioneer Laserdisc 701 on Aux1, and Pioneer DVD 414 on CD. Thanks to all who passed on programming tips as the instructions that came with remote are incomplete.

Hi Guys,
I love this remote. I got it a couple of days ago and have had a ball with it. I do have some problems in programing it though. I have a Yamaha receiver, and i have programmed most of the keys for, except two. I cant seem to program the channel keys to scroll through the stations up/down. I did "learn" the remote to channel up through the stations but I cant get it to "learn" down. Which also bring me to my next question. How do you erase a "learned" key. I dont want them floating around my remote and taking up memory.
Any help will be appreciated.

p.s. Keep the forum going......
thanks Steve

HELP - out of memory!

Anyone know of a way to reset EVERYTHING on the remote and start over again? I'm sure I've got some buttons with accidental macros or learned functions taking up memory. Now that I know what I'm doing, I'd like to completely reset the remote, recapture all memory, and start over again.

Is this possible?

Thanks,
Josh
