I have been trying to find a universal remote that
will operate Time Warner/s Motorola Digital Cable Box.
TWC's cable box comes with a fairly stupid remote. The box has no timer capability. It is impossible to program a series of shows on different channels for taping.

That remote needs to operate an AIWA and a Sony VCR.

I have tried asking help from several dealers who are on the net but get no responses.

Bill, I too live in Houston and discovered this site looking for a better TWC remote. Have you noticed that as TW "upgraded" their boxes the common sense convenience features diminished--including the guide memory so they could cram those damn ads on the screen. So far the best remote I've found is Proton SRC-2000 and is at [Link: profeel.com] It claims timer features but it is not cheap. I found this remote via http://www.remotecentral.com/
I was looking for a remote with a timer and C-3 or better-- C-3 only goes up to channel 199.

>>If you or anyone knows about a remote with a timer feature to change TW Cable's digital box (Ch 1 - 700) I would love to know.<<

Thanks, Mike. I can't believe that there isn't a remote to work this box. There are too many thousands of TW customers who must be as unhappy with their box as I am.
Their service is good. But this is an option that is
a must, I would think.
I'm going to spend another week or so then go for it.
It is too frustrating otherwise. If I tape one thing I have to give up something else. That's dumb on TW's part.
On another thread I read that someone was using a Sony remote that is about the same price. Since all my stuff except for the super VCR is Sony I will consider it.

Bought what might be one of the last 7-in-1 remotes
from Radio Shack.
They are a discontinued item.
So far it works the TW Motorola box: On/Off Channel change Menu
Works all my other electronics in the cabinet too.
It was about $70 or so.

I had to do all this work. No thanks to Time Warner Cable who has one of the dumbest remotes in history.

Bill, Does the RS remote have a timer to program TW channel changes at a future prescribed time?? I have been looking at some one-for-all remotes on ebay.

Still playing with it. It does not have the ability to record something on a specific date next month. The timer will do One Time, Weekly, Daily items. Set it yesterday to record three different items from three different channels. All three recorded.

There is a downside: I had to program the VCR separately. The remote will change channels and/or power up and start a VCR, BUT it does not have an end time. There is a way but it is new and I'm still learning.

For now, it does do what I ask it to do and that is change the TW Channel when I want it to change. I will live with its defaults since it is still better than what TW supplies.
