Just picked up this new learning remote at Best Buy in Florida. It looks just like most of the other current remotes that RCA includes with their devices: hourglass shaped, although the top is silver, rather than black.
They've added for "L"earning buttons along the bottom, just like the OFA remotes. However, the manual does say that all buttons can be taught from other remotes.
Anyone have any experience with this unit yet? I'd like to find out how much memory is in the thing. The Thomson Consumer Electronics number in Toronto never lets you get through to a real person.
At $30 to $40, if it is really an OFA in disguise, then it will be a major competitor for the RS-1994. ... Mike

If it does, it's hidden. It is not visible from the battery compartment.
I've been in touch with Engineering at RCA Thompson USA... they don't have any specs on it yet. Apparently, like a lot of remotes, these come directly from China and are distributed for sale, in this case, before the technical staff in the US even hears about them. So, the wait is on. BTW, it is REALLY hard to get past the menuing system on RCA's phone lines. ... Mike
