I just purchased RCA Universal Remote Control (RCU500). I found the codes for the TV and VCR with no problem. But for some reason, when I hit the "Menu" button to program the VCR (an older Signature 2000) to record a show, nothing comes up. No blue screen to program the VCR---nothing.
Can someone tell me if it's possible to use the RCA Universal to program the VCR or should I take the remote back to the store?
Thanks!

One command that is often lacking form URCs is the Timer Record. Unless your new remote is also a learning remote (which I don't think it is), you will not be able to do that kind of VCR recording, because the Device code doesn't have it built in to the set of commands. (Although it may have been applied to a different button... check them all; also, sometimes a different Device code for the same brand of TV will have the command... try another.)
A learning remote like the Radio Shack RS-1994 can do it for you... ... Mike
