I'm seeking advice on effective RF remotes. I would like to control my system from my outside patio-about 75 feet away from the system and thru some walls. Are there RF remotes out there with enough power for this? I'm just starting to look and don't know much about this. What other solutions are possible? What is a IR repeater system? Thanks for the education.

Most RF systems advertise a range of 100', but the problem is your environment has so much to do with how it'll work that it's pretty much impossible to recommend something that'll work at the upper end of the spec.

Thanks for the response. Maybe the 100' range spec is tied to some sort of power standard allowed fpr these devices? Thanks again.

Actually yes... they're not allowed to send a strong signal.

extend ant. with coax, strip back insulation to expose only center conducter to 6.75 inches, tape center so not to touch anything, now you get the range around the end of the ant.

Check out the Panja View Point Express remote it is a RF 2 way remote that works in the 2.4 Ghz range. I have seen these work over 350 feet away through solid concret walls. And work BITCHEN'. not for the poor person either. The system with programming by a professional programmer/installer will cost you the deed to the house and car. Plan on spending $8-15,000.00 for a state of the art system that will blow you away too.

Good luck
