Hi, I just bought a used Marantz RC2000 remote and I can't get the backlight to come on. I'm told that there are all sorts of configurations that can be set up for the backlight, but I can't find out how to access the backlight program. The instructions indicate that it can be done, but don't seem to tell how! I'm I doing something wrong or is it fried? Thanks, Vince (aka : waitingforaPRONTOman)

Vince,
The backlight (on mine anyway) comes on when the surrounding light level is below a partitcular threshold - have you tried it somewhere dark and gloomy??
There is a setting (but I don't have my instructions handy) to tell the remote HOW gloomy it has to be before the backlight comes on
Hope this helps
PS Do you have the pc configuration software too?

Hi! No I do not have any software for this remote. This is the RC2000, not the 2000 II. Does the first generation have software available? I've since found that the button is broken off inside the housing, but using a pin, I still can't get the lights to activate. I feel the switch responding and the remote switches on, so I know the switch works. I just can't use it when we are watching movies in the dark! I'm wondering if some pages might be missing in my maunual, because I searched the entire thing last night and still could not find anything about configuring the lighting. The manual is glued together, not stapled, so this evening I'm going to check the page numbers out. If there's software available, where can I get it? Vince

I think I may owe you an apology
I was suffering from jet lag yesterday and read SRC2000 when you had written RC2000. I think these are two entirely seperate beasts
Sorry
