Are universal remotes still available that can be
programmed by pointing old remote to new remote &
depressing buttons on old remote? If so, may I
request names & model number?

all replies welcomed! Aaron

Certainly they're available. Hybrids are also available with large preprogrammed device libraries and some learning memory.

The Sony VL-900 has a large learning memory and can learn all keys for all modes.

UEIC remotes like the Radio Shack 15-1994 or the OneForAll Cinema 7 have a large library of device support, with the ability to add about 26 learned keys.

Another option is to get a UEIC remote, like one of the fine remotes mentioned above, and build yourself a JP1 interface. Then create custom device codes that you can download to the remote, and tailor macros to your liking through the free PC software. See [Link: hifi-remote.com]

The review section is full of them. There is also the Radio Shack 15-1994 or the OneForAll Cinema 7. What else (features) are you looking for.

Such as:
Price range
do you need timers
do you need macros (how many)
do you want buttons or screen
......
how many devices do you want to control
how many buttons/device do you need
The more info you give the better the answer.
