I need an RF-to-base remote that has a range of 100ft+. The Jensen SC-595 claims that it does, but I have seen some user comments that complain about the range. I have a whole-home audio system that I'd like to be able to control from my pool in my backyard as well as throughout my home.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Mark, The upcoming Acer Phaser claims a range of up to 150ft. And it can supposedly be used with any IR remote. We'll see... [Link: acerneweb.net]

The constuction of your home is going to affect transmission distance. The best range I've seen is on the Denon RC8000/8001 Aktis. I tested it at over 230ft in an open air environment. It's the rest of the remote I didn't care for.

Mark, See Myron Ricketts' message and response from Peter, plus my msg of thanks and report on how the suggested fix worked. I tried his solution and it greatly improved the distance - still not whole house, but I have a number of walls between far locations and the base station. The bottom line is that improving the antenna is probably a more viable solution than trying to bump up power (in many situations). Myron
