RCU810 can't learn from Yamaha HTR5250's remote?

Hi Folks,
I have a Yamaha HTR 5250 receiver and I can't seem to get my RCU810 to successfully learn from the Yamaha's remote at all.

I was able to use the built in code to get some functions, but the receiver inputs were all wrong. I tried to use the orig remote to learn from and kept getting the "Success" response, but using the taught button does nothing. I read the faq and during learning process tried changing distance, angles, burst vs hold, all to no avail.
(was trying original's DVD Input to 810's Digit 1)(then tried doing it to 810's L1, and L2)

I also tried learning from DVD KLH DAV5022's remote (don't laugh, the klh came free with the yamaha). I got the same results as when trying to learn the yamaha's functions.

Now just to make sure I wasn't doing things wrong, I took my RCA 56296's remote and tried to learn something from it to the RCU810. Fter a couple of tries, I did indeed have success there. (orginal's Mute to 810's L2)

So does anybody have any ideas on what I might be doing wrong, or maybe the Yamaha uses some strange pulses that the 810 can't learn?

By the way, I did the Manufacturers Reset within my my experiments to make sure I wasn't filling up my memory.

Thanks for any help you might offer.

Randy
