I need to buy a universal remote, i have a Sony TV/VCR, Technics rack system and Panasonic DVD player. I'm looking at the Philips Pronto, does anyone have any opinion about the Pronto, or anything else that may be suitable? Thanks very much.

Joe check out the Pronto threads there are plenty of opinions there. There are many good remotes available. The Sony 2100, Crisp U-Command 515 & 616 and the home theater masters among others. It boils down to what your particular needs are. Read my review among others here on this site on the 616. Butch

If you want a Pronto like remote then the choice is Pronto or RC5000(i) they are the same remotes with some different features, you can find the list of differences in the review section (there is a link on the left column) and the FAQ (there is a link to it from the review) there is also a Pronto forum, (where you can find a lot of answers).
The Pronto is a great remote, and there is no other that compares to it. It does take a bit of time to get ready. And there is no remote that is as customizable. And if you are creative and like to mess around with things, ProntoEdit (the editing software for the PC) can become addictive.
