Can anyone please provide any information on the Rotel RR 1090 remote control? I believe it's fairly new. Is it a Pronto adversary? What do you think of it etc?

Regards

I've heard briefly of it, but besides for the fact that it has an LCD and sounds like a unique design, I know nothing else.

I had no luck with either Rotel in Worthing or Rotel in Milton Keynes (remembering that I'm in the UK) and it's not on Rotel's website. Apparently it's not been announced yet. At least some people have heard about it but I wanted details to see if it might be a viable alternative to Pronto etc. If it IS any good we'll be hearing a lot about it soon!

Regards and thanks.

I've seen one and I'd say that the Pronto has absolutely NOTHING to worry about! It's not touch-screen for a start, has 4xAA re-chargeable batteries and is shaped like a flat fish. It's definitely one to be used on a table rather than a hand held. Humph!

There's a photo and specs,(there might even a copy of the owners manual) on their website. There's a decent sized photo in the March 12 issue of Twice, along with a 5 paragraph blurb that mentions a June availablity, Windows configuration software, and a $299 price.

This is not a great pic, but then, it doesn't look like all that great looing a remote anyway.

I bought one about a month ago, but there are problems programing the thing. It drops all of its learned codes after entering about four devices. I'm waiting for my new one now. From what I have used of it, I like it. I'm not into the touch screen remotes, so this one works for me. The display alows for up to 60 personally edited comands (only four caracters though). I gave it to my wife, and she found the thing dead simple to use. A true test of any electronic component. It sells for about $450 Canadian. I have also been told by my dealer that while its problems are being fixed it is getting an upgrade for better computer formatting.

That should have been five character names, not four

I have just posted a review of the RR-1090 to my site. Have a look:
