Hi there everybody I'm looking for a remote control for my Pc. I need to press function keys F2 to F12 from a distance of about 6 meters. I found something 2 years ago which worked with Win 95 & 98 but my current system is Win NT and that didn't work. Has anybody ideas or adresses to get a remote for doing this? Ulf Ålin

The X-10 guys have a remote that looks like a Radio Shack remote, but includes a mouse wheel thingy on it, and it is designed for PCs and electronics. www.xz10.com. ... Mike

I have a IRMan attached to the com port of my PC. It along with the PCRemoteControl software will learn the patterns of any IR remote control (I have the Ucommand616, but have used it with One-For-all's and yamaha multi remotes in the past). I use it to control all the functions of DVD Station on my PC, and I have even managed to get PCremote to load, unload and change region settings. The websites to visit are: [Link: evation.com][Link: pcremotecontrol.com]Hope this helps. Neil.

I just got a DVD anywhere kit from X10.com, and it includes a IR/RF remote that will talk to a RF receiver you plug into your computer's serial port. You download software from X10's site to configure the remote to operate your favorite media players.
It was $70. I had a Gift Voucher that made it $50. It came with a $30 gift certificate that makes my total cost $20. Darned good deal. The remote can be configured for DVD, SAT, TV, VCR, and your PC applications. It won't run a receiver (at least not mine) but makes a darned good X10 controller/universal remote for a spare bedroom's entertainment gear. In addition, the DVD anywhere kit includes a 2.4Ghz A/V sender and receiver and an X10 keychain minicontroller. With the A/V sender you can not only control your PC media from another room, but watch and listen to it's A/V output from another room too!
I've had fits with X10's online ordering process. So I can't recommend it. Their products are neat, though, and a great price for gadget heads like me.

I like X10 remotes, since they use radio, and that is an advantage in some cases. The program PC Remote Control mencioned before ( http://www.pcremotecontrol.com), can work perfectly fine with the X10 remotes (MouseRemote and DVD/MP3 Anywhere). Moises
