Hello,

I am struggling to find reliable information on what the original remote is for my 1987 Quasar VH5270 VCR. Even a photo would work. I've been unable to find a manual for less than $15, which is more than I'd like to pay just to find out what remote I need.

I bought a Quasar VSQS0537, which was listed by someone on eBay as being compatible with the VH5270, but upon arrival, I've found it doesn't work for it.

I know this site is more commonly used for help with universal remotes, but having obtained help quickly here for my first post about a remote from this same era, I thought it was worth a try to ask.

Did you test vsqs0537 remote to see if it actually works at all? By pointing at cellphone camera if you see flashes it emitting a signal and working. No flashes it's not working at all. So, a working one might still control your vcr.

Quaser vcrs should work with older panasonic vcr remotes. But panasonic changed IR codesets in late 90's. To tell the difference the newer code set remotes had blue lettering under certain keys where the older code set remotes had all gold or yellow colored writing on each key.

The 1980's vcr remotes from such brands Quaser, Panasonic, Sylvania, and Magnavox all looked alike. They all used the same VSQS suffix in their remote model numbers.

Using the RemoteLocator of IrScrutinizer I found a JP1-file that is supposed to support QuasarVHQ-40M_VCR. It can be downloaded through the GitHub repository. For example, the Power command is protocol Panasonic. D=144, S=0, F=61. I can translate it to any format you request, but can you do something with this information, or are you just looking for "clicker"?
