I have been using WIzz.it 9 with two RC9500's for years flawlessly. One of my RC9500's died and I bough a used one from eBay which works but I cannot get it to download/upload with the Wizz.it 9.
My current RC9500's are running Boot V4.31 and App V3.10.5. My new RC9500 is running Boot V3.75 and App V3.2.17.
I tried a firmware update but again can't communicate with the RC9500.

I suspect that a different USB driver was used with the older boot/app. Any ideas?

Welcome to the site.

To make it easier for users to search, please refrain from double-posts.

The USB driver for the 9500 should not have changed. Should be same across all firmware revisions.

I would suggest connecting USB cable directly to remote (don't go through docking station) and powering the remote up while connected to computer with firmware update program running and waiting to detect the remove. Hopefully, firmware process will detect the unit.

You also did not mention if you've upgraded PC's recently such as moving from a 32 bit to a 64 bit OS. What OS are you using as well?

I have a laptop and desktop which are 64-bit units and which are setup with Wizz.it. I activate the Windows XP Virtual Mode on both to upload/download. Nothing has changed in either machine, and both function 100% with my old two remotes.

I now have a second used Remote that has the same issue and is running the same version as the first used one I just got (V3.2.17)
.
The Firmware Update program will sometimes read the Remote's version and acknowledge the version it intends to update to (V3.10.5). But, it gets stuck on "Downloading Firmware".

I am running the Firmware Updater from the XP Virtual Mode. The 3.10.5 Firmware Updater is dated 4/7/2006.

Some additional info ... the Updater gets stuck on "Downloading Firmware" , and if I answer 'NO" to keep the current configuration also "Downloading Default Configuration File". Appears that the Updater is trying to connect with a source for these files.

Do you have a complete install of Wizz-it? I would suggest reinstalling at IIRC, on the NG series, the default configurations were in a folder off the main install folder.

If this is the case, a firmware update to your other remotes (if you chose to reload the default config) should also fail.

SUCCESS! I downloaded the default Configuration file from the Marantz site and placed in the Configurations folder. Was then able to update the Firmware and My custom Configurations to both unites.
Thanks for the guidance.

Ronnie. Glad you are up and running!!!

IIRC - If I Recall Correctly.

NG - Next Generation. The TSU7000/7500 RC9500 were considered Pronto Pro Next Generation remotes. You will often see the software called PENG (ProntoEdit Next Generation) PPENG (ProntoProEdit Next Generation).
