I bought this remote used and upon receiving it discovered that it all lit up nice and pretty but the hold the left hard button for 3 seconds to enter learn mode did not function. After many attempts at reloading the factory settings to no avail I dumbly stumbled across the fix, in the process of trying everything just because I had all but given up, I PRESSED AND HELD THE PRONTO ICON ON THE TOUCH SCREEN WHILE PRESSING AND HOLDING THE HARD BUTTON FOR 3 SECONDS THAT IS SUPPOSED TO PUT IT IN LEARN MODE, AND PRESTO!!! it worked and has continued to work, I don't know why and have no guesses as to why it worked but it does put it in to learn mode. If some one else is having the same issue I hope this will work for them.

I only know to get the Pronto's in the learning mode is to press on the remote-icon of the remote until another screen appears, which has as one of the options 'learning'.

This may apply to the 7000 only but is worth a try.
There is a setting in the firmware I think that does indeed control this. I think was in a later firmware. May be on the page that states to enable 4 way cursor.
Also, note there is a 3000 manual on this site that might shed some light on what is happening.
