Ive just bought a second hand Marantz RC9500 from ebay, it looks as if it probably hasn't had much use for a while, I have put it on charge, but the charge lights on the dock only light up for the first five minutes, then go out. All the time the remote is on the dock its saying its charging on the info page. I tried to set the time a few times in the setup menus and it locks up every time, the only way I can get it back to being responsive is to remove the battery. I then tried to connect the remote to my computer via usb, but when using the Wizz.it 9 software, it just says the device is not connected properly. HELP!! have I bought a dud?

I have had a RC9200 and a RC5400 before, but haven't had these problems and it was a few years ago now.

My guess is you need a new battery.
And what operating system are you using?

Did you install the Wizzit software BEFORE connecting the remote? That makes a big difference as to whether it installs properly.

Also you need to install it as administrator and I used XP compatibility to ensure it all worked.

Wizzit was installed before connecting the remote. Should the remote be connected while doing this?

Read this thread...[Link: remotecentral.com] You can't just connect the remote under windows 7 because there is no usb driver.

It sounds like you did it correctly if you installed WizzIt first. Are you using 32 bit or 64 bit windows?

I'm not sure the software is compatible with 64 bit machines :o(

Wizz.it for the 9500, like PPENG requires XP 32-bit emulation to work properly. This is due to the driver file ProntoNG.sys that is required to communicate with the remote. It is not compatible with 64-bit natively.
