I've read most of the topics in this forum on TSU7500 and RU990, in hopes of finding a way to purchase the RU990 with Australian warranty, but without paying too much, but to no avail :-(

Can someone please suggest to me where I can buy a RU990 in Australia with Australian warranty (one of the shops that I visited quoted me $1550 AU, which seems a bit too much)?

Thanks in advance :-)

The warranty in the box states that it is an international warranty.

Thank you Peter, that does sound reassuring, but then there's another potential problem with the cradle - will it accept our Australian 240V 50Hz?

Or am I making up too many "potential problems" and should relax and buy from the States? Are there any ozzies here that did that?

Sorry, Peter, just saw your profile - seems you are my neighbour :-) So your USA version cradle works here ok, I assume? (BTW - I'm also a Software developer in a local company).

All you need to replace is the power supply which is similar to a mobile phone charger - around $25 at Dick Smith.

If you are importing, you will be charged 10% GST, duty, courier and customs processing fees.

Yeah, that's the nasty part :-( Although it doesn't happen all the time, from what I hear ;-)

If it comes in by courier, it always happens. The courier company is required to inform customs that tax is due.

Oh, that does change things a bit, because it basically brings the price up to the one I can find here (or even I can get it cheaper here then).

What I liked on one of the USA sites is that they offer a 3 year complete warranty, including accidental damage to the screen. I'm not sure if I can get the same deal here, although I'm going to find out today :-)

If you can get in by Post, you have a good chance, and teh costs are lower if there is a charge.
