My 7000 was working great and I made a small change to the pcf and when I tried to download I got the The CF version is not correct or the memory is corrupt message on the remote. I have tried numerous times to download with no luck. Also, I have uninstalled and re-installed the USB driver and still no luck. I am using the latest version of the firmware (3.8.14) and PPENG (2.1.7.0) on a DELL laptop running XP Professional SP2 and connecting via the USB port on the back of the laptop. I have tried other pcf files and they all fail as well. I have also tried another computer with the same results.
I have reloaded the firmware successfuly but then any pcf download after the update including the default pcf fails to download.
Any ideas?

Rebooting your computer(s) is critical. I've had this message come up in the past and a simple reboot was all that was required. On another occassion I had to uninstall, then reinstall the editor. I've also experienced this error when adding a PNG file to my PCF saved in Photoshop 5.5. For whatever reason adding a PNG file to my PCF that I saved in this version of Photoshop would cause the error. Once I got this error no PCF would download to the remote until I did a reboot. Of course if I choose to open my PCF in the editor again after rebooting the PNG file in question would need to be removed from my PCF first before attempting to download to the remote. I've since moved on to Photoshop CS. It's been clear sailing since then. The message will also come up if your PCF is too large to download to the remote which has happened to me more times than I can count.

Oops forgot to mention I did uninstall/reinstall the editor as well and there were countless reboots too. The change I made was not graphics related. I can't even get the samples that ship with PPENG to download.
What is too big? Mine is 4272KB.

What is too big? Mine is 4272KB. That is a very subjective question as the size of your PCF has nothing to do with the actual amount of space needed in the remote for it. That being said, I can tell you that there is no way your file is too large for the remote. Your physical PCF file size would have to be at least 3 times larger before there would even be a question of the file perhaps being too large to download to the remote.

Have you tried reloading the firmware, then downloading the sample PCF without going anywhere near your PCF.

As Peter said. Have you reloaded firmware?
I know you said that you tried other PCs. Have you tried uploading? Does that work? If so, it's most likely not the remote. Also, are you downloading with the USB cable attached to the DS with power attached, or directly to the remote. Is your battery fully charged? Battery level may have something to do with this.
RE Connectivity...
When you connect the pronto, under USB Devices in My Computer->Properties->Hardware tab's Device Manager, does the Pronto Driver show or does it show Unknown Device?
If it shows Unknown Device, then you should search for +Potential +USB +Issues and follow the links in the thread I posted to reinstall the USB drivers.

I am now having this same problem all of a sudden with my TSU 3000. Up till now I have had no problems what so ever. Have been using PENG 3.1.3 and firmware v3.9.8. and both computers used have Windows XP service pack 2. I have done everything recommended. Rebooting the computers after each attempt of flashing firmware and downloading PCF's, reinstalled PENG from 2 separate computers that previously had been used while modifying PCF's. What happens now is that I can reflash firmware without a problem and can download the sample PCF's fine. I tried to download Daniels PCF to the pronto from a fresh download from this site and the dreaded message (The CF version is not correct or the memory is corrupt) comes up again. Is it possible that there is a corrupt file dowload that is ilodged in the memory of the Pronto that hasn't been or can not be erased. Therefore anything but a small PCF file will not download as there is not sufficient memory. What to do now? I wish I knew. As the Counting Crows recently sang "you don't know what you've got till it's gone"!

Well I seem to have solved my problem.
After extensively trying every fix I could find in the forum I did the following and everything downloaded fine.
1. Reinstalled firmware (latest) and disconnected pronto. 2. Opened up PENG (latest) and my latest PCF and attempted to download. 3. "The CF version is not correct or the memory is corrupt" 4. Without disconnecting I tried to upload from the pronto which gave me an uploading error (don't have the exact wording from the screen, sorry) 5. Without disconnecting again or closing down PCF downloaded to the Pronto.
Low and behold it downloaded fine.
Hope this helps someone.

I have done all the previous suggestions but one. Apparently it was a battery issue. I charged it and now it works. The battery icon was showing 2 bars so I never thought that was an issue.
Thanks for all the help guys!
