Currently I have a 3000, and feel quite comfortable with it. I am looking to move to color, and was considering the 7500, but have located some 7000s for under $400. Here is the question, should I spend the extra beans?
From what I have read here, the 7500 offers more memory, as well as different tactile feel to the hard buttons. Have I understood all of the differences correctly?
I do not plan to introduce a "juke box (either CD or DVD) into my system, so jacket covers are a non-point.
With this, is the 7000 or the 7500 the right choice?

Yes, that's mainly it. 48mb vs 32mb and different buttons.

Thank you Daniel. Should I spend the extra beans for the 7500 for what I have described?

Well I have found that I get better RF performance with the TSU7500 to the RFX6500 then I did with the TSU7000 to the RFX6000 or RFX6500.
Spend the dough!

Pocket the $avings. :-) Your planned "no frills" configuration will give you years of enjoyment . When you decide to add more "bells & whistles", you will still have plenty of memory to do so. By the time you've exhausted the 32mb of the TSU7000 (somewhere in the distant future), you would be looking at the same predicament that currently confronts you now (buy old or new model). Good luck. -- wjjz106

mapatton, have you checked out the Nevo SL? its a superior remote IMO, as it has the WOW factor of the Pronto but still has one handed ergonomics. also the programming factor is a little easier to deal with. its about the same cost as the 7500.
i dont mean to offend any pronto owners here, i'm sure you love your remotes as much as i love mine (i tell it so every night before a sweet carress and placing it gently into its charger ; ) ) and have your own reasons for prefering it over the Nevo.

Thank you all, as it appears I do not ned the extra memory, I am looking at the 7000. Currently, it looks like the price will be 320.
I looked at the Nevo, and it doesn't seem to be able to do wha I want (that may be my own ignorance).

Remember, when you start programming your TSU7000, keep your configuration "vanilla", than when you become more experienced, you can add more flavors. If you happen to get stuck along the way, just call upon Remote Central's Forum for assistance. They will keep you going. They did for me :-). Have fun. -- wjjz106

Nevo is installer only. And we the installers are endeding up beta testing it. Its cooler features are complained about constanly as they either didn't work or need work. Easy to program but the interface is only solid in IR only. having to add the nevo link and all that.... well just do a search on my name and Nevo and ... well here you go... thanks, most likely I will start with the activity based solution I already have for the 3000 (it is in the system files here). I feel quite comfortable programming in a non-color scenario in more than a basic manner.
from there I will need to take advantage of the color aspect. I am thinking of leveraging the different backgounds for different users from an entry in the 2004 contest.

not sure I read your reply correctly.

I looked at the Nevo, and it doesn't seem to be able to do wha I want (that may be my own ignorance). FYI from a programming aspect the Nevo is just as capable as the pronto. the only thing it lacks is RF abilty which it replaces with Wifi ability. i personally would MUCH prefer RF but those who have wifi setups might feel much differently. although yes there are issues surrounding the wifi and its over consumption of power. edit: Springs, i just read the thread you linked, i actually read that previous to purchasing the nevo. thats hilarious the CRS sent you his email by accident! i should say i was actually leaning toward the pronto for its RF ability and it is still a very cool looking unit. it wasnt until i got a chance to really "feel up" the 2 remotes side by side that i decided on the nevo for its one handed ergonomics. i'm left handed so found the hard keys on the right side of the pronto awkward to use. and the fact is i dont really NEED RF and dont have wifi set up in my home anyway so any issues surrounding it were moot.
