I currently have a Pronto 940 (not sure what the US version is called) and it works well.

However, as is the growing trend all the devices I have make estensive use of a 'cursor and select' function and some of them use red/green/yellow/blue buttons in a context sensitive way.

These means that virtually every panel on my Pronto has a cursor, a select and the four colour buttons which doesn't leave much room for anything else.

So I've been looking to upgrade to the 950/3000 as this appears to have a hardware cursor and 'colour' function buttons.

However, I've downloaded the manual and it is not clear whether these buttons are freely programmable - the manual just describes the cursor as a way of selecting Pronto pages.

I'd be grateful for some clarification.

Cheers,

Nigel

They are.
Completely free. ;-)

Just download some Sample-PCFs from here.

You *can* use them for navigation, but you do not *have to* do it.

All 17 buttons on the top surface are fully and equally programable,

The only buttons that can't be programmed are the 3 small buttons on the left side.
