Did you hit the reset button on the back panel? If so, while under bright light, can you see something dimly on the screen? If so, press and hold the backlight button and press Page Up on the side of the remote. Can you now see the screen?

That is not the problem. The unit goes dead if I dont jiggle it within 5 minutes time. The backlight setting is fine (Maybe you thought the backlightr goes out and doesnt come back on) If that were the case, it would still make sound when I pressed the screen right ?
Any other ideas ?
I am really excited to use it but I cant get it going.

Had a similar or same problem but mine is a year old. Worked fine until one day it would not wake up. When I reset, it would be fine as long as I kept it lit. Once it went to sleep it would not wake up unless I reset. No idea. I couple of people have suggested I reboot the firmware but have still not been able to figure that one out. Re-post if you try something that works.

I just spoke with Phillips Tech support for the 6th time. They stated that if the firmware upgrades without error(it did) and the default profile on NGedit loads without issues(it did) and it still does the same thing, the unit must be defective. They told me to send it back for repairs !
I am trying everything again one last time before I put it back in the box.
