I searched for an answer on this simple question. Did not find. Please forgive if this has been covered previously.

I Have been editing bitmaps, and converting peng files to ppeng and back using winrar.
Extracting and editing has been going great, but...

Once I have completed a bitmap edit of an extracted pcf, I am having trouble
re-compressing the files and geting it to open into ppeng.

my process:
in winrar:
I select the folder containing the previously extracted files.
then, I select; add to "archive"
then, I select; the files to be added in the archive
then, I name the "archive" file using a.pcf file extension
then, I select ; ZIP as my archive format

the result:
The archive shows up with a winrar icon.
the archive file has a .pcf file extension
(followed by a .zip file extension when re-opened in winrar)
the .zip file extension does not show up when trying to rename the archive.
ppeng does not recognize the file.

Please help me get these edited files back into a ppeng-friendly format.

Thanks in advance.

You must have a Comment in the zip file containing Version information.

Lyndel,
actually there was nothing in the comment area.
I typed in the required info..
attempted to load the pcf via ppeng's: "file/open configuration" utility > NoGo
I got it open with a:
right click on the edited pcf /
selected: open with /
Selected: ppeng.

is that your experience as well?

There has to be a comment for PPENG to open the file. No comment, file will NOT open.

If you are creating a file from scratch using WinRAR, you MUST supply a model-specific comment.

Thanks Lyndel,
In my earlier post, I was trying to say that I did get the file open.

the only (small) glitch was that the only way I could get ppeng to open it,
was by right-clicking on the file, and selecting "open with"...

Best to you!
