I am looking for discreet IR codes for a Motorola DCT6200 cable box and for a Denon DVD-1600 DVD player (the discreet codes at [Link: remotecentral.com] are wrong). Specifically I want both the both the power on and power off codes.

thanks
matt

Even stranger, I plug the following discreet code into my 3000:
0000 0070 0002 0032 0006 0031 0010 0ab7 0080 0040 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0031 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0031 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0031 0010 0ab7

and when I view the code after hitting OK, both instances of 0ab7 change to 0aaa. I change them back by hand, hit OK and view again and *again* they are changed to 0aaa. Ideas?

You won't find discrete power codes for the motorola cable box. Please stop looking they don't exist. Rest easy and just leave the darned thing on.

For the DVD player, try some of the files here but I don't think any have the discrete power codes from the intros I read.

[Link: remotecentral.com]

Remember, these are CCF files that you must "File->Import Configuration..." to be able to use.

The change from ab7 to aaa is nothing but a lead-out timing sequence change. I don't think there should be a problem with this.

Like a satellite box, turning it off only kills the video output. I have even run across satellite receivers where, when you turn them off, the CH 3 RF output stays on but goes to a black screen!

They have to be powered up all the time to stay active, so the power switch is a lie. At any rate, if the cable box is on, when you power up the system, the video will just appear. Often, when we or others have problems making the system work, it helps to have the video present before we try other commands, because the moment we get the inputs correctly selected, we have video. If the cable box is off, that is one more thing that has to be turned on for everything to work.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Lydel, do you have a description of the format for the RF codes? The reason I ask is that there is a discreet on and a discreet off RF code for my Denon receiver. I suspect there likewise is are discreet on and off codes for the DVD player even though they are not present on my denon remote (the same is true of my Pioneer Elite TV).

Any help is appreciated.

Discrete RF codes? The pronto will not control these devices using RF unless they operate at 418 MHz and speak a particular protocol. If RF is all you can do, you might want to search the Pronto Forum (not NG Forum) for posts the last 2 years by a guy named Dave Houston.

I mis-spoke. I meant IR codes.
