Ok, despite my best efforts, my 3 yr old finally broke my Pronto. My touchscreen is actually cracked in three places. Is it possible to buy a replacement screen and fix it? Or should I just bite the bullet and buy a new one?
Of course I also read the threads here about major problems with the touchscreen on the 3000. Are there any alternatives in the same price range?

The truth will probably be painful... You have 4 options.
1) Send it to Philips and for $160 US they will replace it with a refurbished unit.
2) Buy a new screen for $180 US and replace it yourself.
3) Give up, and buy a new one or buy one off flea-bay. If you're patient you might get one for around $100 US.
4) Buy something else that might be a little less fragile. Logitech/Harmony makes a very nice, and much more kid friendly, remote. I've ordered a Harmony 880 to replace my TSU3000. I Googled it for a US price and came up with about $170 US. I'm paying $230 Can for mine.
See my post on my dealings with Philips, I'm one of the ones whose touchscreen wouldn't calibrate. It seems they pick and choose who gets help and who doesn't. My 3000 was 2 months out of warranty when it bit the dust. Philips does not, despite what the few who they've contacted say, seem to stand behind their products. I've not even received an e-mail, despite several contact attempts.

Call Phillips customer service, wait on hold for long period of time, try to get an ra#, then send unit to them, then wait about 4 weeks and call phillps back & wait again on hold to see what happen to ra that is supposed to cost about $150 = shipping to get it there, talk to many truly inept customer service personel who stated we needed to send in OPTIONAL charger in order to make repairs, send in charger under same RA# & wait 3 more weeks, then call inept customer service again to see what happen to both tsu3000 & charger, find out all is lost, have "nasty" customer service supervisor tell you there is nothing she can do for us untill both units are located, contact sales person at phillips to complain about cust service supervisor, have her boss call back and offer to send a new one at NO CHARGE over night which arrived as promised, then if your really lucky someone at phillips will find the one you sent in fix it and send it back and forget to put the cod tag on the box. And thus, when all is said and done you'll have 2 tsu3000 and NO CHARGE. But then again if Phillips has gotten there act together, you'll pay for the repair/refurb unit & have it in 2 weeks! The above story is true and happen to me!
