Yes... The pronto BEEP.
We have been left with only four choices. When it comes to that sound the pronto makes when a button is being pressed the choices in the "Settings" page are:
1. Loud BEEP. 2. Not so loud BEEP. 3. quieter BEEP 4. No BEEP.
5. CLICK! (now this would be great if it was there)
In the pronto "Settings" I would like to see a fifth choice for the "LCD" and "Button" BEEP choices.
5. CLICK!
Anyone like to hear a CLICK instead of a BEEP?
The Pronto may even work slightly faster too, being that the duration of a CLICK sound is much shorter than a BEEP. My Pronto could use the extra speed. It seems it has slowed down with every Firmware update. The slowness is noticed when jumping from one page to another.
I know the hardware is capable of producing this sound because I have produced it using an early firmware with a beep tone set to I think 300 Hz. For some reason the old firmware could not produce a 300 Hz tone, instead it produced a nice pleasant click sound.
Installing the old firmware is extremely not practical because it locked-up frequently, adding the beep to every button would be time consuming, there would be a functional delay in that button, executing a macro would be quite noisy if you can imagine and most importantly the latest Pronto Editor would not work with it...
So, the latest firmware should include a fifth choice for the BEEPs, enter the CLICK!
Please be realistic and not go into talking about ring tones or sounds that require 16-bit audio processing. I believe there is a limit to what kind of sound this pronto can reproduce. The CLICK is very simple.

This strikes me as amusing - and I have to agree. Snaps, crackles and pops are better than beeps!
You should check out the Sony Navitus. It not only clicks, but it provides tactile feedback as if you were pressing a hard button. I haven't a clue as to how this is accomplished, but it must be a Sony exclusive, cause I'd think that every mfgr would want ot copy it.

Pioneer has a similar technology built in to some of their car audio head units with lcd screens. When touching any given button on the LCD screen that specific screen area vibrates. Way cool!
