I had occasion to be in a Best Buy store yesterday and dropped by the Magnolia Home Theater store. (Magnolia is a West Coast chain of Home Theater stores that operates stores within some Best Buy stores). Prontos and MX-3000 were on the shelves. A sales clerk told me that Pronto was going out of business, and that was why the Prontos on hand were heavily discounted. I was advised to purchase an MX-3000 because URC was a huge company that would always be around.
When I suggested that the Prontos might be discounted because new models were going to be announced next week at CEDIA, he had no clue what I was talking about. I told him that Prontos are made by Philips, one of the world's largest electronics companies and pointed out several Philips products sold in the Best Buy store.
Caveat emptor.

Instead of purchasing a "Pronto", maybe they should be purchasing a "clue".
