It's either a JPEG or a Bitmap. You can modify it in Photoshop or the like. To save from pronto, you can double click to open and choose "appearence". Than click on the "Save" icon and put it where you can find it with PS.

i still cannot figure out how to export an image (button, Background) from a pronto file and import it into an editor and also be able to use it in another pronto file.
is there a way to make one master gallery of buttons and backgrounds you can use on any pronto file.

A PCF file is a ZIP file. Simply change the extension to .ZIP and open with Winzip and extract the images. While you are learning how to do this, and since you are new to this forum, might I also suggest you read the FAQ? Start here. [Link: remotecentral.com]
