Can any one suggest how you might program the left hard button (below the screen) on the TSU7000. My model always has this defaulting to "Done" which means the code is never picked up and it returns to the "Tools" screen. Anyone have any ideas on how to copy a learned code or override the Done function on this hard button ?

Sounds to me that you do not have the latest version of the 7000 firmware and the latest version of ProntoEdit Pro. They must be installed as a matched pair now. It is available on the left margin here, under June 21st, 2005.

Dave, thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately this does not solve the problem. I have downloaded the latest version of the firmware (v. 3.7.7) and updated the application and I still get the same behaviour.

You can actually see this in the simulator as well as on the pronto for real. A) Start the simulator; b) Press the home icon till the tools menu appears; C) Select the "learn" button; D) Select "Learn button"; E) Then try to program the left most hard key under the display; You will notice that it states "Done" on the menu bar above it, so when you press it (in order to programme via learning mode), you actually return back to the Tools menu every time. This is very frustrating, and effectively means you can never programme the left hard key with a learned code unless there is a way to over come this.

I thought that maybe I could programme another key with the correct code and then somehow copy and paste the code to this hard key. Is this a possible option anyone ?

I am sure this has been solved and would really appreciate some advice. Thanks in advance.

Steve,

Sorry but something sounds whacky to me. I have never used the sim to do anything but view what might be happening with my programming. It is not programmable and does not do anything except display what is going on in your config.

I have read your post several times and I am not getting it. Maybe something in the latest version has got past me???

I program the hard buttons in ProntoEdit NG and it is pretty easy to do this. All the buttons are programmable, except the light button and the up/down button on the left side of the Pronto.

Do all of your programming via your PC via ProntoEdit NG or ProntoProEdit NG and forget about trying to program anything directly into the Pronto, unless you have extreme learning problems.

Hope this helps ..Dave

Sounds like there might be something wrong with your device because there shouldn't be any difference in the behavior of any of the propgrammable hard buttons.

In any event, learning an IR code directly onto a button, hard or soft, directly or via PPENG, is poor practice. You should learn your codes into dummy buttons on separate code pages, and then link your buttons to the dummies. Download a few of the better pcfs from the files section here and see how the "pros" do it. This subject has been discussed innumerable times on this forum.

Thanks for your feedback again guys. I solved the problem by going into the editor on the PC and programmig the hard button with the pronto attached on via USB (using it to receive the code from the real remote). This then avoids having to press the physical hard button on the pronto (labelled done on the learning menu)... anyway, appreciate all your input and I am sure you are glad to know it's not a problem any longer.
