I wrote to Philips complaining about constantly losing the bitmaps and buttons on the system page when using prontoedit NG for the 3000, and I got the following response:

"Dear Michael,

We regret that you are facing problems with ProntoEdit and indeed there are some rather unpleasant bugs present. Therefore we will shortly introduce a complete rewritten editor with new features but within the same set up. It's under beta test right now but we expect to launch it within a month.

Kind regards,

Prontoteam. "

Yes, I have heard the same thing. This beta is being tested now, for the TSU300.

Wonder who they have doing the testing?
Surely there are many of us here who would love to test it to destruction to ensure we get a bug free Editor at last?!!

There is a select group of senior members here, who are part of the beta team.

Only the shadow knows.

Rest assured, I'll bet it has the same or better stability that the latest 7000 editor has. (otherwise - Rock Solid).

Wait and see what is officially announced at CEDIA. Everything else is no better than rumor.

I'll beta test. The random crashes I get in PENG and PPENG are infuriating.

If you are getting random crashes in PPENG, I have to ask... Are you using Windows 98SE? If so, moving to XP will solve many of your problems.

Well, it looks like there is something going on with this. In the info Daniel posted about the 3500, you can see that they are going to have a new editor for the 3500, I can't imagine them trying to support another editor, they must just be combining the editors again.

Why are people still using PENG anyway ??

I thought most pros here recommended using PPENG and then saving as a PENG file ?!
Now that Daniel has made the switch program available - doesn't this make it even easier to use PPENG for all your TSU3000 needs ?

There is an issue with transparencies between both programs. The graphics don't look as they should.

You also can't learn codes for a TSU3000 in PPENG. If you're a TSU3000 user, the PENG fix is essential since both PENG and PPENG are crippled in one respect or another.

It is not a wait and see game at this point for TSU3000 users regarding an updated editor. Be rest assured. I'm sure it is frustrating, but as Dave and Daniel have indicated, the next release of PENG is in beta right now. In light of the serious problems with the current editor I'd hope this beta test is a short one. If so, it won't be long before TSU3000 users are enjoying the same stability that TSU7000 users now enjoy with PPENG v2.0.

What little I have used of the 3500 editor is a promising one. It is very much like the current PPNG, which is a good thing. I have not lost any system items in a whole day!
