After being told (and realizing) that I was starting my learns too early (had problems with AIWA device as a result), I tried a few buttons from each device to see if any drastic changes were there. Simply here, I am asking which is the proper form so I keep the ones that are better. In both instances, each works OK, but I'd prefer to keep the better of the two. I do not know which is better, as I really do not understand what most of these mean (can distinguish what is an RC5 code etc. but that's about it).

I still have three more JVC devices to learn (CD player, DVHS, SVHS). The code in the first pairing resembles what is in the "Discretes" section of this site under JVC, however the learns were started before the Pronto started learning. The second pairing were started after waiting a second or two, and resemble what I saw under Daniel's PCF for a JVC SVHS VCR. There aren't very many buttons on this device so it'd be nice to know what I should expect before hitting the other remotes (which are buttons-a-plenty :-) ).
The other device is a Memorex MVD2028 DVD Player
digits 1 and 2 (starting early but quick press - starting early and holding caused the Pronto to learn codes that did not work...this is what I did to get codes to work originally):

Tour second set of JVC learns more correctly represent the JVC signal. But I've read some posts here that seem to indicate some version of Pronto firmware do badly with that form of JVC, specifcally they transmit too little if you do a really short press of the Pronto button. I've never really been sure whether there is really that flaw vs. testing error or misunderstanding.
For your memorex signals, the long versions are imperfect learns. When learned well these signals get automatically translated to the condensed form you posted second. I think the condensed form will work better in the few situations where you might detect a difference.
