I'm new to the TCU7000 world, but I think this issue I found may not be a desirable result. Firstly, I have firmware 3.7.7, and this issue occurs only on the unit, so it is not caused by the ProntoProEdit NG software (v2.0.12.0).
I can make this occur with my current settings, and with the default TCU7000 profile, and I can make this occur on the simulator (which implies that this is not a single-unit failure).
Summary: Adding a new device (from a template) to the Devices page, then changing the label (renaming the device) causes the TCU7000 to also rename the template.
If I already have a device on my Devices page, say "DVD(R)", if I add a new device of the same type, the unit will name it "DVD(R)1", and if I rename it, only the device will get renamed, the template will remain as "DVD(R)".
But, if I first rename my original "DVD(R)" device to say "PioneerDVD", then add a new device from the "DVD(R)" template, then rename the second DVD(R) device to say "ToshibaDVD", then the device gets renamed AND THE TEMPLATE gets renamed too.
I can always use the ProntoProEdit NG software to "fix" the renamed template, but I'm not convinced this should happen. On the device itself, my workaround when I want to add a second device of a type I've already renamed from the default, is to add the new device twice. The first one will be "DVD(R)" and the second will be "DVD(R)1". I can then delete the "DVD(R)" device and if I rename the "DVD(R)1" device, it will not rename the template.
I noticed this after creating 2 DVD devices. I was trying to add a 3rd DVD device, and I couldn't find it in the list of templates because it had been renamed to "XBox".
Bottom line: If you rename your devices, and then add a new device and rename it too, you might end up renaming the template.
Bit.
