I just purchased a new 7000 and when I try to use the simulator to make a new pcf, I get this error message. "An error occurred while simulating the current configuration file" this happens only when I try to make a new one file. When I try the default it works fine. Any ideas? Thanks JD

Are you using the latest PPENG software along with the latest firmware?

I am using the ppeng 2.0.12 version and I have upgraded the firmware 3.7. I'm thinking it must have to do with XP. Because when I use any pcf from the download section, the sim works fine until I make changes then it will not work after that. Thanks JD

What do you mean by "try to use the simulator to make a new pcf".
I don't beleive you can make changes using the simulator whereas you could with the original Prontos.

After making changes to a pcf, then starting the simulator to see what it looks like that's when the error message arrives. I get the same error message when I try to download the modified pcf to the unit. I had a TSU 6000 before this one and never had these problems. I tried on my lap top as well so I must be corupting the pcf some how? Are you saying that reconfiguring say daniels pcf for my components it gets corupted? Thanks for your help JD

It is very easy to corrupt PCFs with older version of ProntoEdit.
The new version, released a few weeks ago, does not have this problem.

I think it has something to do with the gallery, when ever I modify a button then use it in my device screen this seems to be when the error message arrives. I am using Adobe Photo Deluxe program, I always save the modified button as png file then put it in the gallery. I select this new button from there, is this correct way to do it? I used this same method for my TSU6000 worked fine. Not sure where I am going wrong. Any help is appreciated. JD

I too am experiencing this bug. I am running the most current versions of both firmware & PPENG (as downloaded from this website) for a RU980. If I load a default configuration file or a configuration file from the files section of RC then I am able run the simulator from the tools menu of PPENG. If however I load my configuration the simulator crashes. The error message "An error occurred while simulating the current configuration file" is displayed. If I shut down PPENG and the relaunch the program - a window pops up asking me "Editor has recovered a configuration file. Do you want to load it now?' . Recovering the file makes no difference nor does creating a new configuration and merging my old configuration with it, only config files which have not experienced the simulator crash will run. Uninstalling and reinstalling PPENG makes no difference. I know Lyndall made reference to always having a back up but don't tell me the editor got all flaky with this release.

About the only thing I can think of is re-loading the sim after you make any changes to the open .pcf. The sim cannot keep up with changes to the .pcf, once it is loaded and in play. I usually re-launch the sim if I want it to show me any changes I have recently made in the open .pcf. I have never had any issues with the sim, in the new software and firmware versions.

Simulator crashes on existing files can be caused by a variety of issues. For example: [Link: remotecentral.com]

It reminds me of a similair problem that occured with an earlier version of ProntoEdit NG (for my RU950) whereby grouped items would make the editor crash in certain circumstances and the configuration files were often unrecoverable. The plot thickens......
Ok, I've narrowed down the problem. If I create a .PNG graphic with my version of Photoshop (V5.0 Limited Edition) and then import this graphic into the configuration as either a button or a panel, the simulator will crash.
My conclusion is that I am not setting the properties correctly in Photoshop for .PNG files. What settings should I be using in the save options for .PNG files ?.
