Hi to all
Pleace read this answer from the philips support care center (and thanks to them for the fast and quick support, great!):

Recently you have asked us about problems using the learned codes on your Pronto remote control.

Assuming you have the RU950, we can confirm this is a problem in the latest version of the firmware. We are working to resolve this issue, but meanwhile you can use previous versions of the firmware, available from the files section of www.remotecentral.com. We are sorry about the problems caused.

We hope we answered your question satisfactorily.

And I guess it destroys your pronto so older firmware don't work. It is so frustrating. I called Phillips and basically they want to charge me the price of a new one to get it fixed. I maybe looking into other brands as this is crazy, I need my remote to work now. Maybe I can get Squizzers friend to lend me his fingers as I have the exact same story as he!! Thanks all for your help.

I'm in the same boat as well with my TSU-3000. Year warranty is up, I just posted my issue in detail at [Link: remotecentral.com]

I'm beginning to think Captain Howdy is right, maybe there is a bad batch of Prontos that were shipped out. However, convincing Philips to replace them is going to be an uphill battle. Maybe if we can get a group of people that are all having the same problem. We can send one big e-mail with all our serial numbers???

I don't know, I'm open for suggestions....very frustrating.

Well today I tried calibration and it worked! All I did was leave it in the charger. I tried yesterday and it didn't work, but this morning..Voila! What a pain. Now I wonder how long it will last! This is a very strange problem.

Here's a tip. Be VERY CAREFUL of double-presses. Only briefly "brush" the calibration point with your stylus/paper clip/toothpick/whatever. If you shake a bit while touching or press the screen slightly too long, it seems to sense that you've hit the screen twice and takes that second press as your next calibration point... which of course fails.

My Pronto NG is 2 years old, and had been working fine. Suddenly the touch screen wouldn't work. So I flashed it and redownloaded the firmware. NOw, I have the same problem as well. Really in a bind. Cannot get the screen to calibrate at all.

squizzer, I've been using FW version 2.3.9. Alot of people say I'm crazy not to upgrade, but I've heard, as well as experienced, nothing but problems with the newer versions. I'm going to stick with the lower version. In fact, when my screen locked up, I accidently used verion 3.1.15 and that's when my problems started. I'll email you the zip file with the older version, but the problem is once you have the newer version on, going back doesn't solve the calibrate problem. I ordered a new Pronto that will be here this week, and I'm going to start with the lower version. Should do the trick.

Good news...although not everyone would like my solution. My screen locked up and would not recalibrate. I purchased a new one online for around $200 (not great, could be worse). I then opened it up and determined it was running FW version 3.1.15, which for me started my problem. I decided to downgrade to 2.3.9. Many wouldn't like this but it works for me. I don't need timers and don't have a problem with contrast or battery life. I do dislike the delay in hitting the buttons, but that's a small price to pay for the benefit I believe I get from this remote. I downgraded the FW, downloaded my Config, and I'm back up. The last one lasted for almost 2 years, so I'm not too concerned about this happening again. Now the only decision is to ditch the old one entirely, or try and get Philips to replace it for $150 so I can use it in the master bedroom.

Ted,

Well not sure that is a solution to the problem. I guess we can call it a workaround. For $160 Philips will replace your broken TSU3000 with a 90-day warrantied refurb. However, with the number of users experiencing this problem, it is remotely (no pun intended) possibly that Philips may admit there is a problem with these units. For those experiencing the non-responsive touchscreen on a tsu3000 make sure to post on

[Link: remotecentral.com]

and e-mail your serial number, date of purchase, firmware, and place of purchase to [email protected]

If we get enough people, Philips may start to take notice.

Please see this thread and respond with your TSU3000 problem using the format provided.

This will help consolidate all of the TSU3000 problems a number of owners are experiencing and provide a single place to collect data.

Thanks,

Brian
