I just got off the phone with Philips support. I reported that in the process of installing the v3.4.16 firmware upgrade my TSU7000 died. I further told them that I had exhausted the remedies suggested on this forum without result. They responded that the unit could not be repaired in the field and that it would have to be returned for service.

Now here's the kicker: I have to pay $260 plus shipping to get an RMA number for repair. The unit is 6 months old and was in perfect condition before being zapped by THEIR software.

I own 3 of these things and used to love them. But it will take me some calming down before I am ready to send them another $260. I this is the most unreasonable support policy I have ever encountered.

Sounds like the persn you spoke to did not understand this is a warranty issue. Try calling again and see what a different person says, and ask for a supervisor if necessary.

Peter,

The Philips support guy said the warranty on the TSU7000 was 3 months. I didn't check the materials I received with the unit.

Forget warranty, if the firmware really did toast it, then they should 'undead' it for free!

That's Philips for you, that the attitude they have about all their products, i'm for not buying their products anymore and incourageing retailers to stop selling their products too.... Maybe they will get the message....
