A functional one only took a few hours. However, I am still optomizing my first one. I started with it when I bought my TS1000 when they first came out and am still working on it (changed a little bit two nights ago). I don't remember exactly when that was released, but I'm on somewhere around 7 years?
CJ
PS- the sad thing is that it's not really that great looking.

No worries Anthony, not taken as an insult. You just got me thinking after your reply on AVSFORUM.
I thought it would be interesting to get feedback from other members on their experiences building their first config.
Upon reflection maybe it just seemed I spent a 100 hours on my config. My wife certainly made me think I did.
Shawn’s comment about buttons got me thinking Dave or someone should build a “How To” guide for making buttons from scratch.
I'd consider buying it.

My current design was proabably 75% borrowed from many different sources. I have about 10 devices. I would say about 40 - 50 hours, but of course 10 of those were in redesign to suit my wife.

Brian,
Oh no, not more development work - LOL
Have you looked at Archer's document in the Files area? It goes through a step-by-step approach on how he made buttons? Dave was also nice enough to allow me to put it into The Guide.
Is something like this enough or would you want more? Just curious. Not sure I have the cycles right now to take it on.

My first tsu70000 - definitly more than 100 for me, that is because my first config was for a client, so the repeat testing and re-configs was a good portion. I friend of mine said that I spent a solid two months on the project - which would equate to many increments of 100 hours.
Since, I have added my second config, modified from the first and it took only about 25 hours.
Once you understand the process it gets easier and easier; faster and faster.

I spent nearly 10 months programming and testing my remote before I even remotely (no pun intended) tried to use my pronto. I am still adding more things and refining my designs. I have barely even touched my receiver page as I want it to be as transparent as possible. I have at least 300 hours in it, mostly tweaking and with mostly borrowed graphics.

What is a first config?
I am still working on it since last March when I go the 7000. Hundreds of hours of fun.

Is the one I gave to my landscaping client and the one I posted here: [Link: remotecentral.com]Now I have started to create one for myself with the above one as the base.

Dave, thanks for pointing me to Archers Button 101 document. I had not seen it and after a quick peruse of it I think it will work for my needs to get me started.

If there WAS a step-by-step tutorial on how to make buttons with Photoshop only - would you need / like / use it? Or would the creation of such a tutorial just be a waste of time because of programs like Liatro Button Maker? Just being curious... André

I for one like all the info I can get on graphics design. My buttons still have some issues I'm not thrilled with so pointers for any program are always good. There are usually comparable steps in other programs for those of us without photoshop.

Andre, Liatro is next to useless for the 7000 as it does not do semi-transparency or any transparency for PNGs.

Andre,
You're a photoshop wizz - I'm understand it only basically so I would love to see a step by step butom making guide. I'm especially interesting in how you colour, shade and light them.
Cheers Adam
