I'm having great difficulty uploading from the Pronto. I am able to upload succesfully about 1 in 8 attempts. This seems to be a new problem although I haven't uploaded much lately. Have tried disconnecting the dsl, disabling Norton AV, restaring the computer and nothing seems to help. The upload progess bar gets to 1, 2, or 3 bars and then the Pronto resets itself. Would greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance.

Which Pronto? The 3000 or the 7000? We need to know these things as there are 2 distinctly different executable files used to do the upload depending on the remote version!!!

What Windows OS are you running and what service packs do you have applied?

Do you have the latest 3000 firmware and software?

This may be a bit simple, but could this be linked to your PCF Only? What PCF is currently on the remote that's so important? Is there any way that you can download the standard PCF and then try uploading it?

Which direction are you going. From Pronto to computer (upload) or computer to Pronto (download)?

If you are going from computer to Pronto, you symptoms sound like your PCF is too big.

It is an upload - from the Pronto to the computer - adding several brand new components for which there are no codes posted yet. Its Win XP Home SP2. When was the last firmware update? I did do the original one. Thanks again.

Why are you uploading?

You should be adding any new devices etc using ProntoEditNG (PENG). If you have codes to learn, you can also do that from PENG.

The only reason to ever upload is when you havev trouble learning codes using PENG, and you are forced to download, learn your codes directly, then upload.

Alos, how big is your PCF?

Mine does the same and it's not the PCF file I made. Damn thing won't even load the "default PFC" supplied with the system CD... Also won't load the orginal PCF that was shipped with the unit. I get low battery messages, can't find remote messages, Cf on correct version, memory corrupted messages. Tech support at Philips really no help at all... How do they sell these things to the public.. And no I don't have the latest firmaware loaded because it won't load either.....

Wayne, you have jumped on 5 different threads without really giving anyone a chance to help you.

For a start, have you tried a different computer, different USB port (and not a hub), or better version of Windows (ideally XP). These are the most common causes of problems.

I found the answer, at least in my case, to why the TSU3000's stop communicating with XP... There seems to be a problem with the Microsoft driver that loads when you first plug the USB cable into the unit. In may case I transferred the USB cable to another USB port, one not shared with any other devices and the problem has gone away. I am still experiencing some learning code problems, but I can now download and upload to my hearts content. See if this works for you...

Still think the support, or lack of it, stinks for this product.

Having to use a different USB port is a common fix. Philips could a lot better with some aspects of support, but is unreasonable to expect the call centre staff to be Windows experts.

FYI, I think you mentioned this originally a year or so ago, but uploading a pcf can still reduce file size. I am currently adding several hundred dvd covers to mine by copying my current dvd pages and replacing images (its the quickest way for me). This seems to make a lot of duplicates. Just to check I downloaded then uploaded and the file dropped from around 5.75 mb to 4.8 mb.

Just food for thought.
